The Dream Remembers invites visitors into the dream of a machine. On the screen, a cloud of drifting light lies dormant: a computer asleep, waiting for someone to arrive. Scanning a QR code turns the visitor’s phone into a body link. Its motion sensors read tilt, rhythm and breath-like movement and send them to the dream in real time, waking it and shaping how it drifts, breathes, splits apart and folds into a tunnel.
Every touch leaves a trace. Tapping the orb on the phone releases a memory light into the dream, a warm glow that drifts for a while and slowly fades. Holding it pulls the visitor down into the dream tunnel; letting go lets them rise back out. Lights from everyone who connects gather in the same space, so the dream becomes a shared and shifting memory of the people who have passed through it.
The project asks what it might mean for a machine to remember: not as stored data, but as light, breath and touch that linger for a moment and then dissolve.
How to take part
- Open the work on a large screen and scan the QR code with your phone.
- Tap Connect to wake the dream.
- Tap the orb to add a memory light. Hold it to enter the dream tunnel, and release to return.
- On a computer, click to leave light, or hold for an unstable dream. Turn on sound and mic to let your voice pull the dream closer.
