Blue Ribbon Ocean Conservancy needed more than an office. Its space in Midtown Atlanta had to work every day for a mission-driven team, and open up for events that bring the community closer to the ocean and to the work of protecting it.
The design takes three qualities from the marine world. A protective enclosure makes the space feel secure and welcoming. A fluid plan lets office areas run into interactive zones, so the floor can change with each event. Reflective accents catch the light like water and carry the organisation’s message with a quiet sophistication.
The result is a workplace that is also a place to learn: a venue where visitors meet the vibrancy of the sea, and the reasons to keep it alive.
Design principles
- Protection.A secure, welcoming enclosure that holds the team and its visitors.
- Liquidity.A plan without hard breaks, flowing from desks to event and exhibition zones.
- Shine.Reflective surfaces and accents that recall light on water and the life beneath it.
